Default Author House

Has any one used www.authorhouse.com?

They claim to publish within 30 days....I'm getting info on them so I'll post a reply to my own thread later, but does any one else have anything?

I don't see any prices on their website, but another website mentioned a $698 fee for a basic paperback. While I think it's about standard for that type of self-publishing service, it seems like it'd be very difficult to sell enough books to get it back.

This is rather long, but it has some good information:

Is there any reason why you don't want to try and get a regular publisher? I think most people assume something is only self-published because it's not good enough for a real publisher (whether or not that's true), which makes them less likely to buy it.

If you do want to self-publish, have you heard of Lulu? It requires you do some of the formatting yourself, but they don't have any initial setup fee and you can print as many or as few as you want. I haven't published anything with them and probably never will, but I got some of my novels printed just for personal fun, and I'm happy with how they turned out.

Anyway, let us know what you find out once you get the information from AuthorHouse.

So Author House is really expensive and doesn't really look worth while....

Interestingly, I see they are present at the London Book Fair, and I'm going on Tuesday 21st. If I get a chance, I'll pick up some lit. - they're bound to have info to take away! I do have rather a lot lined up for the day, but I'll try okay?

Great! Let us know what you find if you do get around to it. Actually, I'd love to hear about what the London Book Fair is like in general.

Default Manuscript Services and E-Publishing

Hey All
There is a company called gold-owl.co.uk they are a manuscript service company and an e-publishing house. They accept unsolicited manuscripts for consideration. I have used them several times for help on my manuscripts and they are very professional and operate a good turn around time.
